Fire Threatens East Ventura Homes

Saturday November 3, 2018

A vehicle fire that spread to nearby trees threatened homes in east Ventura Saturday afternoon.

When firefighters arrived at Petit Avenue and Darling Road around 3:30 PM they found a vehicle engulfed in flames with the fire spreading to nearby trees and threatening the homes in the area south of Darling on Petit and Albany.

Firefighters from the city of Ventura, the county, and the city of Oxnard, responded.

They worked to make sure the flames did not spread to the structures in the area.

About a half hour later they had the fire knocked down and they were able to confine the fire to the vehicle and trees with some damage to a nearby garage.

Cause of the fire was under investigation.

   No injuries reported.

The scene of the fire was just southeast of Chumash Park.
