New Details In The Deputy-Involved Shooting In El Rio

     Update---The Ventura County Sheriff's Department has released more details about Tuesday morning's deputy-involved shooting in El Rio.

    They say around 8:50 AM in the 2800 block of Cortez Street the deputy spotted a 36-year-old woman he knew was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant.

    The department says when the deputy approached the woman, she armed herself with a hammer.

     There was a confrontation that led to the deputy shooting the woman in the left hand.

     The deputy was not injured.

     The woman was taken into custody and then transported to the hospital to be treated for the gunshot wound.

     An investigation into the incident continues.
