Deputies Arrest Suspects In Shooting Near Ventura

Monday February 11, 2019

Update--Ventura County Sheriff's deputies have arrested the suspects in an incident near West Ventura Monday morning that resulted in gunfire and also an injury to one person.

The incident happened shortly before 8:30 AM when a man was apparently assaulted in a home near Ventura Avenue and Holt Street.

Deputies say when the man came outside after the people beat him, one of those people shot at the man, but missed.

The suspects then fled in a vehicle.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he was treated for the injuries he received in the assault and then released.

Meanwhile, Monday evening, Simi Valley police spotted the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of the Grand Hotel at Enchanted Way and First Street and notified Sheriff's detectives.

Deputies responded and took the suspects into custody, but not until one of them repeatedly refused their commands to surrender and less lethal force was used to finally take that individual into custody.

There were no serious injuries in either the original morning incident or the effort to arrest the suspects at the hotel in Simi Valley.

Initial reports indicated that there were three male and one female suspect that were taken into custody in Simi Valley.
