Ventura County Sheriff's deputies say they arrested two gang members with a gun last week in the unincorporated community of El Rio near Oxnard.

The gang unit was conducting what they called a "directed enforcement" in the 2700 block of Vineyard Avenue last Friday afternoon about 2:45 PM when they contacted 22-year-old Gerald Silva of El Rio and a 16-year-old male juvenile from Camarillo.

Deputies say Silva is a known El Rio gang member on active parole.

During their investigation, detectives say they found a loaded .22 caliber revolver concealed in the waistband of the male juvenile.

In addition to the firearm they say they also found ammunition and drug paraphernalia on the male juvenile.

The male juvenile was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall on gun, drug and gang charges.

Silva was arrested for a parole violation and booked into the Ventura County Jail.
