Firefighters made quick work of a small brush fire just east of the city of Simi Valley.

The fire was reported shortly after 2:30 Sunday afternoon in the 7100 block of Santa Susana Pass Road near Box Canyon Road in the Santa Susana Knolls area.

Ground and air units from both Ventura and Los Angeles counties responded to the fire.

It briefly threatened some structures near the top of a hillside and prompted the closure of Santa Susana Pass Road between Box Canyon Road and Katherine Road.

But crews successfully protected the structures and had the fire knocked down in about an hour at about one acre.

   Cause under investigation.
