A school bus driver with the Pleasant Valley School District in Camarilo has bailed out of jail after being arrested Monday morning for allegedly taking steps to develop an inappropriate romantic relationship with a 15-year-old girl.
60-year-old David Perez of Oxnard posted bail Monday night and was released pending his arraignment in two weeks.
He was booked into the Ventura County Jail earlier Monday on a felony charge of a lewd act upon a child and a misdemeanor child molestation charge.
Ventura County Sheriff's officials say the alleged victim was not a student in the school district and they do not have evidence that there was ever any physical sexual contact between Perez and the girl.
But they allege that his actions still rose to the level that warranted his arrest on those charges.
They also say they have no evidence that Perez was involved in anything inappropriate with any students who rode on his bus or who were students at the Pleasant Valley School District but they are asking anyone with might know something to call Detective Sergeant Ryan Clark at (805) 384-4721.
Meanwhile, school district officials have placed Perez on administrative leave after his arrest Monday morning when he showed up for work.
