The Ventura County Sheriff's Department, the County Fire Department, and the Medical Examiner's Office are investigating a gruesome discovery early Thursday morning at Camarillo Airport.
Shortly before 7 AM, air traffic controllers in the tower spotted smoke and flames at the west end of the airport.
Firefighters, deputies and an ambulance responded to the scene.
They found a vehicle well involved in flames.
When they put the fire out, they discovered a body in the vehicle.
There was also evidence that the vehicle had been in a crash.
The question now is whether this was an accident, suicide or homicide and so far the authorities do not have an answer.
The name of the victim has not been released.
