Updated--Ventura continues to experience a swarm of small earthquakes under 3.0 as we head into the weekend.
The swarm started early Thursday morning with a 3.3 quake that struck at 5:59 AM, followed by a 3.4 temblor at 5:05 AM.
They were followed by a couple of dozen smaller quakes, all centered from downtown Ventura to the mouth of the Ventura River and then north through the west Ventura area.
Then Friday morning at 4:10 AM there was a 3.4 earthquake followed by a 3.6 at 5:29 AM and 3.2 at 5:37 AM.
The smaller quakes continued into Friday afternoon and evening with the strongest quake at 2.9 at 1:55 PM.
There were no reports of damage or injuries and scientists say these swarms happen all the time although some long time Ventura residents cannot remember when when the city was the epicenter for five quakes above a 3.0 in less than 24 hours with dozens of smaller quakes during the same time frame.
