Wednesday May 15, 2019

A Fillmore man was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison for sexually abusing four little girls over a number of years.

The judge sentenced 67-year-old Henry Mata to 310-years-to-life-in-prison.

A jury had earlier found Mata Guilty on 15 counts and they found true 26 special allegations.

In April 2016,the first of four victims came forward to Ventura County Sheriff's detectives saying that Mata committed a number of lewd acts upon her in his Fillmore home when she was eight-years-old.

There was an investigation and Mata was arrested and charged.

Then, three more victims came forward with information that Mata had molested them numerous times between 2004 and 2014 when they were between the ages of 6-12.

They all testified at his trial along with two more victims who said Mata did the same thing to them while living in Santa Paula in the 1980's when they were between the ages of 7-10.

Charges could not be brought in the oldest two victim's cases because of when the crimes happened.

Prosecutors say all the victims were related to Mata.

The judge gave Mata the maximum sentence allowed by law.
