Major Injury Crash In Camarillo Prompts Search

Wednesday June 12, 2019

Updated--Ventura County Sheriff's deputies used a drone with infrared capabilities to search for the passengers of a major injury crash in Camarillo early Wednesday morning.

The solo vehicle crash involving a minivan was reported shortly after 2 AM on Beardsley Road and Calle De Debesa next to the Sterling Hills Golf Club.

Deputies say the driver, a 36-year-old Oxnard man, tried to flee the scene despite major injuries but he was located and taken to VCMC.

They believe he had at least two passengers who also fled and were being sought by deputies.

But after several hours of searching, deputies say they did not find any passengers.

Deputies say DUI is suspected in the crash.
